Your First Visit at MedPalm — What We Learn in 90 Minutes
Most people arrive at a new dental clinic expecting one of two things: a cleaning and a price list, or a quick look followed by a treatment plan that feels predetermined. At MedPalm, the first visit is neither. It is 90 minutes of structured assessment - and the only commitment we ask of you is to show up.
Before We Touch a Single Tooth
The appointment begins with a conversation. Not a questionnaire - a conversation. We want to understand what brought you in, what you have tried before, what you are worried about, and what you are hoping for. These details change how we examine you, which images we take, and what we prioritise in the plan. A patient who arrives with jaw pain and a history of failed root canals is examined differently from a patient who wants to improve their smile before a wedding. The clinical starting point is always the person in the chair, not the referral note.
What the Clinical Examination Actually Covers
- Periodontal screening - pocket depths, bleeding on probing, bone level estimation from radiographs
- Occlusal assessment - where your teeth meet, how forces are distributed, signs of wear or parafunction
- Soft tissue check - mucosa, tongue, floor of mouth, lymph nodes where relevant
- TMJ and muscle palpation - joint sounds, range of motion, tenderness that may explain headaches or facial pain
- Existing restorations - margins, integrity, signs of secondary decay or cement failure
- Radiographic review - OPG and/or bitewings depending on clinical findings and last imaging date
"We document what we find, explain what it means, and prioritise what actually needs attention - before any treatment is discussed."
- MedPalm Clinical Team
How We Talk About What We Find
After the examination, we share findings in plain language - not a wall of abbreviations. We distinguish between what is urgent, what is worth monitoring, and what can wait. We show you images and explain what you are looking at. If there is more than one way to approach a problem, we describe the options honestly: what each involves, what it costs, and what happens if you do nothing. We do not pressure. We do not pre-book procedures at the first appointment without your explicit request.
What You Leave With
By the end of the visit, you have a clear picture of your current oral health - not a summary impression, but a specific account of what we found and why it matters. You receive a prioritised list of recommended steps, with an honest timeline and indicative costs. Key points are written down. Questions are answered. If we need specialist input - from our orthodontist, oral surgeon, or functional specialist - we say so, and we explain why. Nothing begins without your informed agreement.
